  1. Gimp For Ipad Pro
  2. Gimp For Ipad Free Version

Perhaps the most well known Photoshop alternative, GIMP has been around for ages and is one of the first programs that comes to mind for many people when they think 'free Photoshop.' It's an open-source program available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and the official website offers a lot of helpful tutorials. Awesome Article, GIMP is often an underestimed Powerful App. Myself, I use GIMP Exclusively in a GNU/Debian Linux Setup, so PhotoShop even though it'll kind of run in WINE or via a Windows install in Virtual Box or other Virtualised situation, well, it's not really an option I want to take.

Winrar 64 bit version free download. This discussion is connected to the gimp-developer-list.gnome.org mailing list which is provided by the GIMP developers and not related to gimpusers.com.

This is a read-only list on gimpusers.com so this discussion thread is read-only, too.

GIMP for iPad

Sent from my iPad - Is anything in the works for developing a version of GIMP for the iPad. if so then also being able to link with a desk top version with changes to the image on the iPad. As their is a growing base of iPad users, this might be a very good app to create. Thank you - Dave Beazer

No, and won't be.

The absolute minimum requirement is for the App Store to allow GPLsoftware be uploaded which is (in)famously impossible right now.

If ever this is solved by Apple, the next step would be for someone toactually create a kind of GIMP for iPad. As far as I can tell, noonein the team is interested right now.

Apple has found this neat hole to make their terms incompatible with the GPL, most likely to quench at least some competition on their closed platforms.

You shouldn't expect to see GIMP or other GPL'ed FLOSS software you like on the iPad anytime soon.

Having an app in the Apple store would give it more exposure. Can't you just make an app available for download at a site other than the Apple store?

Yeah, complete with instructions on how to root your iThingie or alink to the $99/year subscription to be an iDev. I'm sure that wouldbe _wonderful_. Puppies and rainbows, yay!

Oh, and never mind writing a new touch UI.

(sorry: coffee doesn't not seem to be having an effect yet - this issupposed to be sarcasm ;)

Gimp drawing app

Having an app in the Apple store would give it more exposure. Can'tyou just make an app available for download at a site other than theApple store?

Since that only works for jailbroken phones, this would be a lot of work inreturn for a small audience. Better to target an open platform.

Or even using LGPL libraries, for the same reasons. This unfortunately alsomeans anything using GEGL.

I believe the problem also exists for Google Play store. Then again Firefoxfor Android is available there, but it could be Google is just to wary ofanti-trust to shut it down. /speculation

Actually, there's no such problem. Google Play accepts GPL apps. Android itself is licensed under the Apache software license. Not only that but youcan also legally distribute apps without going through the app store - theusers have to change some default settings, but there's no need to jailbreakthe device.

That still leaves the problem of diverting valuable developer time into acomplex side project, so it's probably best not to even consider it, butlivensing and distribution are not the problem.

I think the original discussion is about Gimp on IPad not on an Androiddevice. :)
